Video is growing to become a vital component of online marketing efforts. Leading the trend are pharmaceutical marketers, B2B marketers, and retail.

Recent Pharmaceutical Videos

  • Boehringer Ingelheim and the Diabetes Hands Foundation are running a diabetes patient video contest. Three weekly finalists were chosen from among the 3 minute videos submitted by adult diabetics.
  •  Novartis and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society launched the “We Keep Moving” video series during MS Awareness Week, March 9, 2010.
  • GSK is promoting their HPV vaccine, Cervarix through videos posted on YouTube and their disease oriented site: helpreventcervicalcancer.com

Promoting Videos Online

Once you have completed your video production, there are a number of ways to promote it, such as:

  • Posting the videos on the branded channel on YouTube
    The video titles, descriptions, and tags can be rich with the keywords that will help Google direct students to the videos
  • Posting the videos on the branded Facebook & MySpace pages
  • Announce the videos on the branded Twitter page
  • Tag the videos on the site so Google can find and list them in a Google video search.
    Be sure to create individual urls for each video.
    Also the video filename and metadata should be keyword rich
  • Include a video sitemap to help Google find the videos
  • Optimize for blinkx video search engine (See:  http://www.blinkx.com/whitepapers)
  • Get listed in Truveo video search engine
  • Get listed on Brightcove
  • Distribute to TubeMogul video distribution network
    (YouTube, MySpace, Google Video, Dailymotion, Crackle, Yahoo!Video, Metacafe, Break.com)
  • Distribute to Visible Measures video distribution network
  • Blog Outreach: send email to blogger influencers, inviting them to share the videos on their blogs (e.g. Boing Boing, The Huffington Post)
  • Press Release announcing the videos distributed through news wire service to get postings on Yahoo!News, MSNBC, CNN, AOL News.
